Anélda Huisamen Clinical Psychologist
Anélda Huisamen (née Kloppers) is a clinical psychologist, having worked in the field of community work, play therapy and clinical psychology for more than 14 years. Primarily trained in insight-oriented (psychodynamic) psychotherapy, she integrates her comprehensive training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Attachment-Based interventions and specialised training in neurodevelopmental differences. As a certified Mindfulness Teacher, clients can be supported with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction if indicated.
Psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments and support are also provided. Comprehensive diagnostic assessment services for various disorders such as anxiety and depressive disorders, ADHD, autism, specific learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia), insomnia, OCD, body dysmorphic disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), trauma and more are available.
Interventions are tailored to families, assisting children from 3-4 years old, adolescents and adults, as well as assisting with the relationships between parents and their children. Anelda works closely with your medical doctor, other health professionals, school and/or support network, if you consent, to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), insomnia, social anxiety disorder, and body dysmorphic disorder.
Psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults who have been through major life changes, stressors and trauma.
Parenting challenges for families who struggle with highly sensitive kids, or parents who struggle with overwhelm and emotion dysregulation.
Assisting families and children with attachment challenges, including, but not limited to parental separation, unexplained emotional and behaviour challenges, childhood trauma, and developmental trauma.
Offering children and adolescents a safe space through play and art therapy, for longer term socio-emotional growth and support.
Supporting children, families and schools with behaviour challenges and defiant behaviour (ODD).
